Working With Goto I.T.

Our Policies.

These pages explain how responsibility works — what we protect, what we don’t control, and what to expect when working together. They exist so expectations are clear before problems happen, not after.

1. Purpose of the Service

The Website Maintenance Plan is a preventative service intended to keep an existing website operational, compatible, and reasonably secure over time.

Maintenance reduces the likelihood of unexpected downtime.
It does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or immunity from failure.

2. What the Service Includes

Routine maintenance may include:

  • WordPress core updates

  • Plugin and theme updates

  • Backup verification

  • Basic security patching

  • Form and email functionality checks

  • Key page functionality checks after updates

  • Restoration (rollback) if a routine update causes a fault

Work is performed periodically at intervals determined appropriate for the website’s complexity and importance.

3. What the Service Does NOT Include

Maintenance does not include modification or improvement of the website.

Excluded work includes but is not limited to:

  • Content edits (text, images, documents)

  • Adding pages or features

  • Redesign or layout changes

  • SEO or marketing services

  • Performance optimization

  • Accessibility compliance updates

  • Integration with new third-party services

  • Troubleshooting issues unrelated to routine updates

  • Recovery from malware or compromise occurring prior to enrollment

Such work is considered support or project work and is billed separately.

4. Hosting vs Maintenance

Website hosting and website maintenance are separate services.

Hosting provides infrastructure required for the website to exist online, including server space and availability.

Maintenance applies only to the website software operating on that infrastructure.

5. Third-Party Software & Services

Websites depend on third-party software not controlled by Goto I.T., including but not limited to:

plugins, payment processors, booking systems, APIs, email delivery services, and external integrations.

Goto I.T. cannot guarantee continued compatibility, availability, or support of third-party software.

If a third-party component becomes obsolete, discontinued, insecure, or incompatible, repair or replacement work is not included in maintenance and will be quoted separately.

6. Security & Compromise

Maintenance significantly reduces risk but cannot prevent all security incidents.

Goto I.T. does not guarantee a website will not be hacked, compromised, blacklisted, or disrupted.

Recovery from compromise, malware removal, forensic investigation, or reputation repair is not included in maintenance and is billed as support work.

7. Backups & Recovery

Backups are maintained as a safety measure only.

Goto I.T. does not guarantee that backups will always be complete, current, or recoverable in every situation, particularly where issues existed prior to discovery.

Maintenance improves recovery likelihood but cannot guarantee restoration in all scenarios.

8. Sites Not Enrolled in Maintenance

Websites not enrolled in an active maintenance plan are considered unmanaged software.

Goto I.T. assumes no responsibility for failures, vulnerabilities, compatibility issues, or data loss occurring on unmanaged websites.

Any work performed on unmanaged websites is billed as support work without preventative guarantees.

9. Pre-Enrollment Condition

Before a website can be placed on a maintenance plan, it must be brought to a supported and stable baseline.

Required update or repair work identified during initial review must be completed before enrollment.

10. Availability & Response Time

Maintenance is scheduled preventative work and does not include:

  • real-time monitoring

  • guaranteed response times

  • emergency availability

  • after-hours support

Urgent issues are handled as support requests based on availability.

11. Client Responsibilities

The client is responsible for:

  • maintaining valid domain ownership

  • maintaining hosting account access

  • informing Goto I.T. of third-party changes

  • keeping billing active

Failure to maintain access or payment may suspend maintenance coverage.

12. Service Limitations

Goto I.T. shall not be liable for:

  • business losses

  • lost revenue

  • search ranking changes

  • third-party outages

  • external service failures

  • internet infrastructure changes

  • actions of other vendors

Maintenance is a best-effort preventative service, not an insurance policy.

13. Cancellation

Maintenance may be cancelled at any time.

However, issues discovered after cancellation are treated as repair work rather than maintenance.

14. Acceptance

Enrollment in the Website Maintenance Plan constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of this policy.
